COMING SPRING 2025
MGCC is expanding north of the city this coming season with our newest chapter, MGCC Thornhill.
We are getting started by inviting you to join our WhatsApp group chat. This is where you’ll be able to meet other riders and get all the latest news as our chapter grows (including ride details and when registration opens).

We are currently looking for people who can help with the following roles…
Ride Marshals: people who can help lead rides by promoting safety and keeping the group together.
Route Designers: people who can help design routes.
Communications: people who can help with communicating information to the club.
Please reach out to Gavin ([email protected]) if you would be a fit for any of these roles and/or help with anything else related to the MGCC Thornhill chapter.
RIDE DETAILS:
LOCATION
Rides will start at the Thornhill Community Centre at 7755 Bayview Ave, Thornhill. This is on the north-east corner of Bayview and John.
RIDE TIMES
Our intent is to ride early in the morning on weekdays and weekends, consistent with other MGCC chapters. Stay tuned for details.
RIDE TYPES
Our intent is to focus on road rides during the core cycling season with a little bit of gravel added in the spring and fall. This will be updated based on the interest of club members.
RIDE LEVEL
Ride levels will be based on the riders who join the club and availability of ride leaders. Our hope is to have an option for riders who fit with the following…
- A Rides: for experienced riders whose cardio and bike handling in a group is top-notch. These are drop rides so riders MUST be familiar with the route and comfortable returning on their own if dropped. Target average speed of 30-35kph.
- B Rides: these are “no-drop” rides and the group rides as a team with a targeted average speed of 27-30kph.
- C Rides: these are “no-drop” rides and target intermediate riders or those looking for a recovery ride. The group rides as a team with a targeted average speed of 24-26kph.
CORE VALUES
Our core values are rooted in a desire to enjoy life and perform at our best. We recognize that these values are not for everyone. If the following describes you, then we’d love to ride with you!
We are kind: Sometimes all it takes is a smile and saying “hello” to make people feel welcome. We meet people where they are and do what we can to help them enjoy the ride.
We show up: A promise made is a promise kept. We show up for each other and use our unique abilities to grow a strong community of cyclists who enjoy spending time together.
We have fun: We all experience fun in our own way. Sometimes it’s Type 1 Fun and other times it’s Type 2 Fun. What matters most is that we are here to enjoy a great ride with friends.
